HTC Desire C

Not everyone spends a fortune to get a smart phone and HTC recognized this well in advance compared to the other mobile companies. HTC is one company that is focused on providing high end phones at very affordable prices. HTC started their low end segment models with HTC Tattoo followed by Wildfire and Wildfire S. But all these phones always had a gap and they lacked in powerful performance. In order to fill this gap HTC launched HTC Desire C that comes with Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich Operating system and is packed with a bunch of other features. Let us see what this amazing phone has in store for us.

Software and Apps: HTC Desire C runs on Google’s latest android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system. This is definitely comes as a fresh breeze when almost every second phone in the market runs on the gingerbread OS. Equipped with Google’s ICS and HTC Sense 4.0 user interface indeed makes Desire C the most desired budget mobile in the industry. The user interface is very fluid and you can customize your homepage choosing from a variety of widgets. This mobile comes with a mix of Google’s preloaded apps and third party widgets like Dropbox, SoundHound and 7Digital. You even have the ability to resize the widgets so that you can decide how much size they can take up on the screen.

Build and Design: Unlike the previous HTC phones, HTC Desire C is compact and gives a great feel when held. With dimensions of 60 X 107 mm this mobile looks a lot like a credit card but with a thickness of 12.5mm. The phone looks very sweet and the front navigation keys attracts you immediately. The only negative is that the phone uses more plastic and so the case is prone to fingerprints. The volume rocker and the power lock key are well placed. Small details like the red frame surrounding the camera lens and the silver frame surrounding screen gives the HTC Desire C a really beautiful look. The phone screen is 3.5in long and has a resolution of 480X320.

Performance and Hardware: HTC Desire C doesn’t come under the category of super fast smart phones. This phone is equipped with a 600 MHz single core CPU with a 512 MB RAM. The performance is sluggish sometimes when you perform multiple tasks. The phone runs games like Angry Birds and Temple run without any difficulty but when it comes to games like Fruit Ninja the phone takes too long to load. HTC Desire C comes with an inbuilt memory of 4GB, however it can be increased till 32GB with a micro SDHC cards. Also HTC offers two years free cloud storage of 25GB with Dropbox application.

Camera: This phone comes with 5 MP camera. Being a low end segment phone, HTC Desire C lacks a front end camera, a LED flash and a sensor. However the camera application in the phone comes with plenty of settings and options. You can easily toggle between the photo and the video mode by just clicking on a button. Videos can be recorded 640X480. The focus of the camera is not that accurate and there is some blur in the photos.

Call Quality and Other Features: The call quality is almost on the same lines as of the other phones in the market. The ear piece is loud and clear but the mouth piece picks up unnecessary outside noises. So if you are in traffic and trying to talk on this phone then the chances that the other person hears the traffic noises are more. The battery life is something that leaves a smile on your face. It comes with a 1,230mAh battery which comes for almost 2 days depending on your usage. You get the regular HTC earphones and it is Beats Audio phone. The speaker phone gives you a clean sound and will not irritate you. The inbuilt stock browser is not that good to browse the internet, so it is always better to download Opera for fast processing.

Conclusion: HTC Desire C is definitely a good low end smart phone and is ideal phone for those who don’t want to spend much on smart phones or who are looking for their first smart phone.
